The Austrian National Tourist Office in Dubai is pleased to announce that as of May 12th 2016 Saudi Arabia has signed the Convention on Road Traffic of Vienna 1968 – therefore Saudi citizens holding an international driver’s license issued in Saudi Arabia are now allowed to drive and rent cars in Austria.

Austria welcomes the increasing numbers and the growing interest of Saudi citizens to travel to the country. The number of Saudis travelling to Austria has tripled in the last four years, with 118.000 Saudis being welcomed in the country last year.

The Austrian Embassy in Riyadh has made preparations for this travel season to Austria, and has further improved accessibility to Schengen visa for Austria by entering into an agreement with VFS which has been providing an extra venue for visa applications in Riyadh since January, in addition to the already existing offices in Jeddah and Al Khobar. Additionally, the Embassy in Riyadh still continues to offer direct visa appointments for applicants.
