From thermal baths to heated lakeside spas and holistic relaxation, this year’s Austria Hotel Collection features a selection of some of its most luxurious and unique retreats.

Aqua Dome, Längenfeld

Ötztal ranks among the most popular winter destinations in the Alps and Aqua Dome – Tirol Therme Längenfeld makes the perfect base for guests who love both skiing and spas. The hotel has easy access to the Sölden and Obergurgl ski area and houses Tirol’s largest spa oases with 12 indoor and outdoor pools including their 3 trademark futuristic floating pools, 14 saunas, and plenty of treatment options. Guests can relax in thermal water while watching the sunset amidst the snow-covered peaks, then tuck into Austrian dishes with a modern twist at the hotel restaurant. Not tired yet? Insider tip: Aqua Dome runs free shuttle buses for hotel guests to the pistes in Sölden all winter. Skis and snowboards can be rented right on-site. 

Das Central, Sölden

Surrounded by more than 250 three-thousanders, 5-star Das Central in Sölden combines traditional Tyrolean Alpine lifestyle with a contemporary twist. The resort welcomes guests with its luxurious rooms and suites, award-winning cuisine and own wine cellar. Wellness fans will love the hotel’s Summit Spa with a 17 m long heated outdoor infinity pool overlooking the rooftops of Sölden and a sun terrace with whirlpool. Massages and beauty treatments complete the relaxation package, whilst the hotel gym with its Summit Cardio Fitness area invites you to a workout with truly spectacular views.

Insider tip: Das Central is perfect for holidaymakers wanting to combine winter sports and spa. Hop on their shuttle buses straight to the closest lifts or take part in a guided “ski safari”, then treat yourself to a relaxing sports massage.

Mountain Resort Feuerberg, Gerlitzen Alpe

Mountain Resort Feuerberg is a four-star ski-in/ski-out hotel sitting on an alpine plateau with views over the whole of Carinthia, Austria’s southernmost province. Guests can start their skiing and snowboarding adventures right from their front door or participate in guided snowshoeing and winter hiking tours, rent a sled or a snow tube at the reception. The hotel’s generous wellness sanctuary boasts an award-winning (and very Instagrammable) infinity pool, 10 regular pools, 11 saunas and 16 relaxation oases. There’s also a weekly activity programme featuring yoga, qigong, mediation, and other enriching sessions for body, mind, and soul. Das Ronacher, Bad Kleinkirchheim

Luxurious Das Ronacher in Bad Kleinkirchheim has been winning guests over with its first-class service and family charm for generations. Guests have access to more than 100 km of pistes, then can soothe their muscles in the gorgeous wellness area after their day out and about. The energising, mineral-rich thermal water used fort he majority of the pools flows directly from St Kathrein spring and is scientifically proven to promote relaxation, help with muscular problems, rheumatism and joint complaints. Das Ronacher is also home to Austria’s first thermal saltwater spa area with a meditation area and waterfall, as well as its own Physio gym. Guests can take part in classes such as aqua fitness and aqua cycling.

Insider tip: Holidays are for relaxing, so if the bed is just too comfy to get up – breakfast is served until 12 noon.

Schloss Seefels, Lake Wörthersee

Schloss Seefels on the shores of glorious Lake Wörthersee simply oozes 5-star superior luxury, but it also offers another kind – the type of luxury that money can’t buy. Guests at the castle hotel have pristine nature at their doorstep along with a lake pool that is open all year round, using bioenergy to heat the water to around 28°C even in winter. There are seven saunas and steam baths – ranging from bio herb to saltwater – with the highlight being the panoramic sauna with stunning lake views. Romantik Hotel Im Weissen Rössl, Salzkammergut

Romantik Hotel Im Weissen Rössl is a landmark in the Salzkammergut region. Having welcomed guests at the shores of Lake Wolfgangsee for over 500 years, it found worldwide fame with the eponymous 1930 operetta and the 1960 musical film of the same name. Memorabilia from the film set are on display all around the property. Today, the hotel is just as elegant, but a heated lake pool, an extensive spa (with saunas, steam baths and a separate family area), and an award-winning restaurant provide state-of-the-art comfort. Romantik Hotel im Weissen Rössl received the Austrian Ecolabel and EU Ecolabel for its sustainable and environmentally conscious management. Pistes and cross-country trails are nearby, but leisurely winter hikes or romantic sleigh rides are equally encouraged.

Insider tip: In December, Lake Wolfgangsee turns into a winter wonderland with Christmas markets dotted around the shores. The best way to see them all is via boat. 

Nesslerhof, Großarl

Nesslerhof, a 5-star ski-in/ski-out hotel in Großarl with direct access to the renowned Ski amadé region, scores with the perfect mix of winter adventures, relaxation, and luxury. The owners’ vision is simple: to create a space where guests feel at home while enjoying the best of nature and luxury wellness. Pistes, cross-country, ski touring and winter hiking trails start right at the hotel’s doorstep. And afterwards, a 5,000 m2 wellness oasis with a 25-m long indoor pool, a cold-water pond (for ice-bathing) and steam baths await. Hotel Krallerhof, Leogang

Surrounded by the Leoganger Steinberge mountains in SalzburgerLand, Hotel Krallerhof captures the essence of the landscape and its revitalising energy. The family-run hotel sits next to the Steinberg cable car, whisking skiers up to the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, while Piste 91 leads them back to the hotel after a day out and about. There’s a ski room, ski shop and rental, as well as ski instructors right at the hotel. Forsthofgut, Leogang

Forsthofgut, also in Leogang, is a sustainable farm-turned luxury hotel currently run in the fifth generation of the Schmuck family. The retreat is 200 m away from the next lift and 150 m from the ski kindergarten. Two pistes lead directly to the hotel’s front door. Forsthofgut features Europe’s first forest spa, an adult-only haven with an old-wood sauna, herbal and steam paths, and a 25-m-long sports pool with mountain views, spread across 3,500 m². Ice bathing is possible in the natural swimming lake. Other standout wellness features are the onsen-style pool (42°C) and an authentic onsen washing area where traditional cleansing rituals are practiced. Families with kids are welcomed in a separate water.

Insider tip: Animals still play a central role at the Forsthofgut, which has a hotel game reserve, riding stables and a petting zoo with sheep, bunnies, pigs, goats and chickens.

Marienkron Retreat & Health Resort, Lake Neusiedl

The Marienkron Retreat & Health Resort in the tranquil Lake Neusiedl region near Vienna is just made for people who value calming winter walks rather than piste adventures.
