Winter is Coming: Ski Opening Dates in Austria

Which Austrian winter resorts are the first to open and how long can skiers enjoy the pistes? Check out the must-know dates in a nutshell.

Austria’s ski season is just around the corner, with the country’s first slopes set to welcome skiers and snowboarders from early October . From high-altitude glacier skiing in the autumn to the wider opening of Austria‘s mountain resorts as winter gets underway, there are plenty of opportunities to get on the snow early.

Here’s an overview of when Austria’s leading ski resorts are set to open for the 2026/27 season – and how long skiers can enjoy the pistes.
